The mouse apoE ELISA^PRO kit provides all necessary reagents and solutions required to quantify apoE in solution, e.g. in cell culture supernatant, and serum/plasma samples. The kit contains ELISA plates pre-coated with monoclonal capture antibody and matched quantities of biotinylated detection antibody, Streptavidin-HRP, TMB substrate, ELISA standard and buffers.

Pre-coated ELISA saves time and reduces assay variability.

1.56-100 ng/ml. The standard range is the range in which determinations of analyte concentration can be done with precision, accuracy and linearity.

The limit of detection of this assay is 1.0 ng/ml. It is the lowest concentration that is possible to detect but not necessarily quantify with precision and accuracy.

Dilution of serum/plasma samples gives a mid-curve recovery of 98-110% in repeated experiments.

The intra-assay variation is 3.7%(CV). The inter-assay variation is 7.1%(CV).

ApoEApolipoprotein E (apoE, also known as apolipoproteinE and apo E) is a 34 kD glycoprotein involved in lipid transport, lipoprotein metabolism and cellular signaling. It is present in plasma lipoprotein particles such as chylomicrons, VLDL and HDL. ApoE is also present in large amounts at sites of neurological damage and appears to be involved in recycling of apoptotic remnants and of amyloidal aggregates. ApoE is mainly produced in the liver and by macrophages, but also by other cell types such as smooth muscle cells or neuronal cells. In human apoE exists in three isoforms, apoE2, apoE3 and apoE4. Of these, apoE4 is associated with Alzheimer’s disease. Normal concentration of apoE in human plasma is approximately 30-40 µg/ml. The concentration of ApoE in inbred mouse plasma can vary between 15-150 µg/ml.
