EIF2AK4（真核翻译起始因子2-Alpha激酶4），也称为GCN2，是人类中由EIF2AK4基因编码的酶。EIF2AK4属于激酶家族，其磷酸化真核翻译起始因子-2的α亚基以响应不同的细胞应激下调蛋白质合成。Hartz（2005）基于EIF2AK4序列与基因组序列的比对将EIF2AK4基因定位于染色体15q15.1。Berlanga等。（1999）证明从小鼠肝脏提取物免疫纯化的Gcn2可以在体外磷酸化兔Eif2。在用小鼠Eif2ak4转染的人胚肾细胞中，血清饥饿使磷酸化EIF2-α的水平增加超过2倍。Costa-Mattioli等。（2005）报道了来自Gcn2缺失小鼠的海马切片的独特特征：在CA1中，单个100-Hz训练诱导强烈且持续的长期增强（晚期LTP或L-LTP），其依赖于转录和翻译。 

EIF2AK4(EukaryoticTranslationInitiationFactor2-AlphaKinase4),alsocalledGCN2,isanenzymethatinhumansisencodedbytheEIF2AK4gene.EIF2AK4belongstoafamilyofkinasesthatphosphorylatethealphasubunitofeukaryotictranslationinitiationfactor-2todownregulateproteinsynthesisinresponsetovariedcellularstresses.Hartz(2005)mappedtheEIF2AK4genetochromosome15q15.1basedonanalignmentoftheEIF2AK4sequencewiththegenomicsequence.Berlangaetal.(1999)demonstratedthatGcn2immunopurifiedfrommouseliverextractscouldphosphorylaterabbitEif2invitro.SerumstarvationincreasedthelevelofphosphorylatedEIF2-alphamorethan2-foldinhumanembryonickidneycellstransfectedwithmouseEif2ak4.Costa-Mattiolietal.(2005)reportedauniquefeatureofhippocampalslicesfromGcn2-nullmice:inCA1,asingle100-Hztraininducedastrongandsustainedlong-termpotentiation(lateLTPorL-LTP),whichwasdependentontranscriptionandtranslation.
