Mabtech/Monkey apoE ELISA development kit (HRP)/3712M-1H-6/for 6 plates
The apoE ELISA development kit is ideal for users who want the flexibility of setting up their own ELISA assay. This product enables quantification of apoE in solution, e.g. in cell culture supernatant. The kit contains a matched pair of monoclonal capture and detection antibodies, Streptavidin-HRP and ELISA standard. Plates and substrate are not included.
The monoclonal antibodies in this kit react with human apoE and cross-react with apoE from non-human primates. The ELISA standard supplied is recombinant human apoE3. See the Human/NHP cross-reactivity table.

Serum/Plasma samples
Analysis of serum/plasma samples with this kit requires the use of Apo ELISA buffer for dilution of the samples, standard and detection antibody. The buffer prevents false positive read-outs which may be caused by interference of heterophilic antibodies found in serum and plasma. The Apo ELISA buffer is available as a 5x concentrated solution from Mabtech. See Related products.

Analyte Information
ApoEApolipoprotein E (apoE, also known as apolipoproteinE and apo E) is a 34 kD heparin binding glycoprotein involved in lipid transport and lipoprotein metabolism. It is present in plasma lipoprotein particles such as chylomicrons, VLDL and HDL. ApoE is also present in large amounts at sites of neurological damage and appears to be involved in recycling of apoptotic remnants and of amyloidal aggregates. ApoE is mainly produced in the liver and by macrophages, but also by other cell types such as smooth muscle cells or neuronal cells. ApoE exists in three isoforms, apoE2, apoE3 and apoE4. Of these, apoE4 is associated with Alzheimer’s disease. Normal concentration of apoE in human plasma is approximately 30-40 µg/ml.
