Overview

Background information
A. fumigatus is one of the most ubiquitous of the airborne fungi. Humans and animals constantly inhale numerous spores of this fungus. A. fumigatus has become the most prevalent airborne fungal pathogen, causing severe and usually fatal invasive infections in immunocompromised hosts in developed countries. An increase in invasive aspergillosis (IA) has been observed.1,2Applications
The in vitro stimulation of A. fumigatus-specific CD4+ and CD8+ T cells with MACS GMP Aspergillus fumigatus Lysate leads to the upregulation of activation markers, such as CD137. The presence of CD137 on the cell surface then permits the enrichment of A. fumigatus-specific effector/memory T cells with the use of the CliniMACS CD137 Product Line.Adoptive transfer of A. fumigatus-specific T cells may be an effective tool for the treatment of post-engraftment invasive aspergillosis (IA) in hematopoietic stem cell transplant (HSCT) recipients.Quality statement
