Thedrapeshouldbefloatedabovethepatientandplacedintheappropriateposition(i.e.donotdragthesteriledrapealongthepatient"scontaminatedbody). Whenapplyingthedrapesmakesurethesteriledrapeisinbetweenthesurgeon"ssterilegownandtheunsterile(undraped)surgicaltable. Thedrapeshouldonlybeadjustedminimallyonceithasbeenlaidontothepatient.IfthedrapeneedstobeadjusteditshouldonlybemovedinadirectionAWAYfromthesterilesurgicalsiteandNEVERtowardsthesterilesite.
