 - Thus,thisdrugresistancegenedoesnotdestroytheantibiotic.Pressurewillbemaintainedthroughoutthecellcultureprocesstokeeptheplasmidcontainingthedrugresistantgene.
 
Chloramphenicol- Chloramphenicolbindstotheribosomal50Ssubunitandinhibitsproteinsynthesis.
 - Thechloramphenicolresistancegene(Cmr)codesforaproteinknownatthecatprotein.
- Thecatproteinisatetramericcytosolicproteinthat,inthepresenceofacetylcoenzymeA,catalyzestheformationofhydroxylacetoxyderivativesofchloramphenicolthatareunabletobindtotheribosome.
