Toxins炭疽杆菌是炭疽病的病原体。炭疽杆菌产生的主要毒力因子是 连接的聚-D-谷氨酸胶囊和由三种成分组成的外毒素，保护性抗原（PA），致死因子（LF）和水肿因子（EF）。这些蛋白质不是单*毒的，而是以二元组合起作用。PA（细胞结合成分）与LF（酶部分之一）的复合物被称为 致死毒素
