ORGAN CULTURE OF THE HUMAN FETAL TRACHEA AND ITS APPLICATION IN EXPERIMENTAL LUNG CARCINOMA Liang Chenghua, et al (Department of Pathology) Tracheal rings of the normal 4 to 6 month fetus after artificial abortion within 8 hours were used to the organ culture and were treated with 6 μg benzo (a) pyrene per milliliter medium during 6 to 8 weeks of culture. Observation by light microscopy, and electronic transmission and scanning microscopy discovered that transform of the cultured treacheal rings of human fetus from the pseudostratified ciliated columnar epitholia into the simple squamous epithelia then into the stratified squamous epithelia was more rapid than that of hamster. Besides carcinogens Co-carcinogen should be used in older to produce a model for experimental lung carcinoma in the condition of the tracheal organ culture.
