慢性淋巴细胞性甲状腺炎亦称桥本甲状腺炎，是一种自体免疫性疾病。
本病多见于中年女性，表现为甲状腺肿，起病缓慢，常在无意中发现，体积约为正常甲状腺的2～3倍，表面光滑，质地坚韧有弹性如橡皮，明显结节则少见，无压痛，与四周无粘连，可随吞咽运动活动。
若出现甲状腺机能亢进症的表现时，宜吃得清淡，吃含维生素高的新鲜蔬菜、水果及营养丰富的瘦肉、鸡肉、鸭肉、甲鱼、淡水鱼、香菇、银耳、百合、桑椹等食物。忌食碘、辣椒、羊肉、浓茶、咖啡等湿热或具有刺激性的食物。
若出现甲状腺机能减退症的表现时，除忌碘外，宜吃含维生素高的新鲜的蔬菜、水果，还宜胡桃肉、枸杞子、山药、芡实等食物。
其主要作用就是人体的防御军队，抵抗外来的病毒、细菌的侵袭。
抗体都是免疫球蛋白而免疫球蛋白不一定都是抗体。原因是抗体是由浆细胞产生，且能与相应抗原特异性结合发挥免疫功能的球蛋白。而免疫球蛋白是具有抗体活性或化学结构与抗体相似的球蛋白，如骨髓瘤患者血清中异常增高的骨髓瘤蛋白，是由浆细胞瘤产生，其结构与抗体相似，但无免疫功能。因此，免疫球蛋白可看做是化学结构上的概念，抗体则是生物学功能上的概念。
