Cultrex®RatCollagenI,LowerViscosityispurifiedfromrattailtendons and isprovidedatastandard concentrationthatislowerinviscosity,makingiteasiertoworkwith.CollagenIisthemajorstructuralcomponentofextracellularmatrices(ECM)foundinconnectivetissueandinternalorgans,butismostprevalentinthedermis,tendons,andbone.Itisa300kDamoleculecomposedoftwoalpha1(I)chainsandonealpha2(I)chainthatspontaneouslyformsatriplehelixscaffoldataneutralpHand37°C.Thisphenomenoncanbeexploitedtopromotecellattachment,growth,differentiation,migration,andtissuemorphogenesisduringdevelopment.ToprovidethemoststandardizedCollagenI,aspecialprocessisemployedtoprovidematerialatastandardconcentrationofapproximately3mg/ml.
