- PlaceallradioactivematerialandperformalltheworkbehindLuciteshielding.
- TheGeigercountermustbeplacednexttoyouonthebenchtopwithineasyreach.ItmustbeturnedON.Anytimeyouaretowalkawayfromyourbenchorhandlenon-radioactivematerial,surveyyourselftomakesurethatyouarenotcontaminated.
- Takeallprecautionswhenworkingwiththeradioactivematerialtoavoidspillage.(Itisadvisabletoplanyourexperiment{doacoldrun}sothatyouknowexactlywhatneedstobedoneandwherethingsshouldbeplacedwhenyoustarttheactualexperiment.)

- Dilutedecontaminationsolutionaccordingtoinstructionsonbottle.
- CleanareawithdecontaminationsolutionandthencheckradiationlevelwithGeigercounter.
- Repeatstep4untillevelisatbackground.
