BackgroundHuman herpervirus-8 (HHV-8) cyclin is a component of the HHV-8 virus particle. HHV8 has been found to be associated with three differentdiseases observedin AIDSpatients;kaposi"ssarcoma, primary effusion lymphoma (whichis araretypeofnon-Hodgkin lymphoma affecting the body cavities) and multicentric Castleman"s disease. To date there is much evidence to support a direct role for HHV8 in kaposi"s sarcoma.
